Somerset Valley Remembrance Center

A Legacy of Compassion

about us

A Shared Legacy, A Shared Future

For over two centuries, the Adams and Edwards families have been trusted pillars in Maine’s funeral industry, offering compassionate care and end-of-life services to generations of families. Somerset Valley Remembrance Center proudly carries forward this legacy, blending the rich histories of Dan & Scott’s Adams Family Funeral Home and Smart & Edwards Funeral Home into a single, unified center of service.

Dan & Scott’s Adams Family Funeral Home
The Adams family has served their communities since 1792, before Maine was even a state. For more than two centuries, the Adams family provided affordable, compassionate care to families during their most difficult times. In December 2022, Dan & Scott’s joined the Family First family, ensuring that their dedication to affordable and dignified funeral services continues for future generations.

Smart & Edwards Funeral Home

Smart & Edwards Funeral Home’s history is rooted deeply in Somerset County, with its origins dating back to 1865. From the founding of Edwards Funeral Home in Madison, ME by Luther F. Edwards, to the growth of the business under successive generations of the Edwards family, this funeral home has served families with unwavering compassion for over a century. Through partnerships and expansions—including the acquisition of Lord’s Funeral Home and the creation of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home in 1996—the Edwards family has remained a trusted name in funeral care.

Today, the newly formed
Somerset Valley Remembrance Center continues the proud traditions of these two historic funeral homes. By combining our locations into one center, we offer enhanced services and facilities to families across Somerset County and beyond. Our team is committed to providing personalized, memorable funeral and cremation services that reflect the unique lives and wishes of each family we serve.

Whether you’re planning ahead or need immediate support, Somerset Valley Remembrance Center stands as a dedicated partner in the Skowhegan community, honoring the past while serving the needs of today’s families.
