Vassalboro - William Henry Spaulding "Bill", 63, passed away at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME on July 9, 2023, at 4:55 p.m. after a long, courageous battle. William was born in Waterville, Maine on September 19th, of 1959. William was the son of Edward and Louella "O'Connor" Spaulding. William attended Waterville public schools where he met the love of his life and best friend, Linda May Francis, at the age of 13 and raised 3 beautiful children together. William shared his life with Linda up until her death seven years ago. William worked in the Labors Union for most of his life. Outside of work, he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and all the things Maine woods have to offer. He was also an avid Nascar fan, which came easy to him considering his need for speed! He was always on the go, and it never took him long to get there. This was one of his finest attributes because you always knew who to call first. William met Carol E. Baird in 2018. They shared the love of the road and were always going on new adventures such as kayaking, long rides and visiting the coast. They also shared the love of food and would often stop along the way to eat and enjoy all the different types of cuisine. Carol's son, Edward J. Bonenfant Jr. moved in with them to help when William got sick. Edward became family and a good friend to Bill through this process. When William was not on the go, he liked to watch his old Westerns and spend time with his family and friends. There was nothing better to him than a big family dinner. During the family dinners and gatherings, he would teach his grandchildren all the things he knew and loved about the outdoors such as driving, fishing, and shooting. You will be forever in our hearts and minds and will be greatly missed and thought of each and every single day! We all love you so very much! William was predeceased by his parents; Edward and Louella Spaulding, his first true love and the mother of his children, Linda Francis, brothers; Timothy Spaulding, Daniel Spaulding, and Roy Spaulding, sisters-in-law; Sheri "Fuller" Spaulding and Linda Spaulding, his nephew, Johnathan, and many other special aunts, uncles, and cousins. William is survived by his children; William Francis and his life partner Danielle Gagnon of Smithfield, Shelley Francis of Fairfield, and Heather Spaulding of Vassalboro, his grandchildren; William Edmonds Francis and wife Kelley, Christopher Fillyaw Jr., and fiancé Molly Pullen of Windsor, Brittney and Brennen Francis of Smithfield, Jaidynn Higgins of Vassalboro, and Alexis Fillyaw of Fairfield, brothers; Edward Spaulding Jr. of Winslow, Bert Spaulding of Fairfield, Edward "Woody" Spaulding of Vassalboro, and sister, Lisa Spaulding of Waterville, great grandchildren; Kensley and Lakelynn Edmonds Francis, Brooklyn May Stanton, and Beau William Fillyaw. Celebration of life will be determined at a later time.
