Obituary

William “Bill” Scott, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Bill was born on May 22, 1968, in Morristown, New Jersey, to Richard and Judith Scott. He moved to Norridgewock at the age of 2, where he grew up, graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1986, and put down roots not far from the family farm.

Bill called himself a “jack of all trades,” and he lived by that in every sense of the phrase. He worked on the family farm, volunteered as a firefighter, spent many years on the road driving trucks, and worked for several wastewater companies, operating heavy machinery both in and out of state. When he wasn’t working, he volunteered with the local Masons’ Bikes for Books program, welded, hunted, fished, or completed projects around the house.

Bill leaves behind his son, Dale Nelson and his wife, Madison Nelson; his daughters, Sarah Gordon and her husband, Ricky Gordon III, and Luree Scott and her partner, Moss Eddleman; and two grandchildren, Samuel Nelson and Saylor Gordon. He also leaves behind his mother, Judith Scott; his brother, David Scott; and his nephews, Tom (Kama) Scott and Jake (Trista) Scott, all of whom love and miss him dearly. Bill was predeceased by his father, Richard Scott.

Bill was known as someone you could count on. He was always there when someone needed help with a project, a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh, or simply a friend to talk to. If you needed something—anything—you could call Bill, and he would be there to help. Bill was a bright light who will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bill’s honor to Celebrate Recovery at Faith Church in Waterville, Maine, or Celebrate Recovery at Laurel Church of Christ in Laurel, Delaware.
