Obituary

Mercer – Wayne D. Meunier, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. Wayne was born on May 11, 1951, in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Joseph Ludger and Arlene Elizabeth (Austin) Meunier. He grew up in the Norridgewock area and graduated from Skowhegan Area High School with the Class of 1970. On June 23, 1973, Wayne married the love of his life, Linda True. They shared 52 years of marriage together, building a life rooted in family, hard work, and enduring devotion. Wayne was employed at the Norridgewock Shoe Shop early in his working years and later became a dedicated member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union #320, working out of Waterville and Augusta. He proudly worked as a Millwright until his retirement. Wayne enjoyed sports throughout his life, both as a participant and a coach, and was a loyal New York Yankees fan. He loved bowling and was part of many leagues over the years, and he never passed up a good card game with friends and family. Most of all, Wayne cherished time spent with his loved ones, particularly his granddaughter and great-grandchildren. Wayne was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Cynthia Laney, Louise Witham, and Agnes Dion, brothers, Gordon and Ludger Meunier. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Meunier of Mercer; his daughter, Lauri S. Meunier and her husband Toby Adams of Mercer; his son, Adam W. Meunier of Mercer; his granddaughter, Keyra M. Shedd of Mercer; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden T. Currie and Khloe E. True; brothers, Eugene Meunier, Norman Meunier with his wife Polly, and Wilfred Meunier; sisters, Shianne Witham and Charlotte Higgins with her husband Larry; brother-in-law Carl Laney; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends.
