Wade Willis Wurst, age 62, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was born in Lake City, Minnesota, where his journey began, shaped by the values of family, hard work, and compassion that would guide him throughout his life.
Wade was preceded in death by his father, Willis Wurst; his mother, Rosabelle Brostrom; and his beloved wife of 27 years, Tina. Their bond was one of enduring love and partnership. Wade carried Tina's memory with him every day following her passing.
Born with a generous heart and a sharp mind, Wade lived a life marked by quiet integrity and deep devotion to his family and friends. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a story that brought laughter, or simply being present in times of need, Wade's presence was a steady source of comfort and joy.
He was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. After his service, Wade continued to live a life of purpose and generosity. He was an avid woodworker, known for his craftsmanship and creativity, and he found great fulfillment in being of service to others—always ready to lend a hand or offer support wherever it was needed.
Wade is survived by his four children: Edward Sawtelle, Jr. (Kyle), Keith Sawtelle (Darby), Michelle Sawtelle (Mike), and Christina Sawtelle. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Peyton, Trip, Aubrey, Addison, Brady, Kevin, and Lillian—each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his brother, Bartley Wurst; his sister, Lynn Nibbe (Brock); and his nephew, Andrew, who will remember him for his warmth, loyalty, and the countless memories they shared together.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 1:00 PM at 20 Ford Hill Rd, Hartland, ME 04943, where friends and family will gather to honor Wade's memory and share the stories that made him so special.
Though he is no longer with us in body, Wade's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, quiet strength, and selfless service—a life well lived and deeply cherished.
