Obituary

Vanessa Wishart, 66, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2023, at her home. She was born June 14, 1956, the daughter of Alberta (Proctor) and Frederick Fish. Vanessa graduated from Lawrence High School in 1974 and went on to the University of Maine Farmington, graduating with a BS degree in Elementary Education. Vanessa worked on the family dairy farm from childhood into her adult life. She was always proud that she stayed home to raise her children until they were both in school. She was an educator for MSAD 49 from 1987 to 2001. Vanessa always spoke fondly of her years teaching sixth grade in the Annex at Fairfield Primary and eigth grade Language Arts at Lawrence Junior High School. Vanessa's greatest joys were her two children, Sarah and Dan and her four grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, never missing a sporting event or tractor pull – regardless of the event, she was the loudest one in the stands cheering them on. Throughout her life, Vanessa enjoyed photography and scrapbooking. Spending time with her family was her passion. She enjoyed sharing stories and memories of her life. A few of her favorite memories were her trip to Arizona with Otto, her trip to Alaska in 2001, the infamous family boating trip on the Kennebec River, and many moments at the family farm and camp at Lovejoy Pond in Albion. Vanessa is predeceased by her former husband and friend Otto Wishart; father Frederick; her sister Debra Gerow; grandparents Lawrence and Mildred Fish; cousin Sue Degraff; and niece Liza. She is survived by her mother Alberta; daughter Sarah and her husband Jake Rogers; son Dan and his wife Stacey; grandchildren Anna and Isabell Rogers and Trent and Wesley Wishart; sister Stephanie Clark; niece Julie Salisbury; nephew Dustin Gerow; and many friends. There will be a graveside service for the family followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.
