Skowhegan, Maine — Tina Marie Goodale, 60, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, after a courageous battle supported by devoted medical teams and loved ones. Though family was encouraged to step out near the end, they were able to visit her earlier that day—moments that meant the world to all of them.
Tina was born in Waterville on September 16, 1965, the daughter of Joyce Marie Goodale (Campbell) and Archie Herman Goodale. She grew up with a strong sense of loyalty, humor, and compassion—qualities that shaped her entire life.
She attended Lawrence High School in Fairfield, graduating with the Class of 1985. Tina was a dedicated and hardworking member of her community, spending over 30 years as a custodian at Skowhegan Area Middle School (MSAD 54), beginning in 1993. Before joining the school district, she worked at Solon Manufacturing and later at Marden's. Her work ethic, reliability, and kindness touched the lives of countless students and staff over the years.
Tina found joy in life's simple pleasures: her beloved dogs, gardening, music, watching and feeding birds, especially cardinals—and playing cards with her life partner. Her laughter, honesty, and selfless spirit were gifts she shared freely.
For more than 40 years, Tina shared a devoted partnership with David Charles Hayden, a bond characterized by loyalty, humor, and unwavering commitment.
Tina was predeceased by her father, Archie Herman Goodale; her mother, Joyce Marie Goodale (Campbell); and her stepdaughter, Holly Jeanne Demers (Hayden); and siblings Wanda Eldridge with her husband Joel, Billy Goodale, and Sandy Hann.
She is survived by her life partner, David Charles Hayden; her stepdaughter, Heather Hope (Hayden) Householder with her fiancé Jeffery Paul Drew; step-grandchildren Taylor Elizabeth Householder, Jordan Wayne Householder, Alex Joseph Demers; step-greatgrandchildren Adriel Charles Findley, Waylen River Findley Householder, and Emerie Jeanne Demers.
Tina is also survived by her siblings, Evelyn Goodale, Jeff Goodale with his wife Tammy, and Terri (Goodale) Greatorex; half-siblings Linda Richards, Cheryl Yale with her husband Paul and Don Goodale with his wife Betty; as well as several nieces and nephews who cherished her deeply.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the oncology teams at Redington Fairview General Hospital and MaineGeneral Health in Augusta, as well as the exceptional ICU team at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Special thanks are also given to the students and staff of Skowhegan Area Middle School, whose thoughtful chalk messages along the road in front of Tina's home brought her immense comfort and joy during a difficult time.
Tina will be remembered for her strength, kindness, humor, and the quiet but powerful impact she had on the people around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and gentle resilience that will be forever cherished.
