Obituary

On December 5, 2024, Tom passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Tom grew up on a the Siviski farm in Winslow. Tom was a member of the carpenter's union as a millwright. Once he retired from doing that, he started his work as a carpenter. He was very talented at this and could fix anything in homes to automobiles. His carpentry work was impeccable and sought after by many. He enjoyed working with his hands and teaching this trade to anyone that would want to learn. He was a dependable and honest and would help out anyone if they needed it with a smile on his face. He set the example for his family on what a man is and should be. His outlook on life was so simple and innocent. He didn't ask for anything; he gave way more than he received. He was the epitome of LOVE. He would tell stories to his family of his days on the farm and delivering milk in the cold weather as a young man and yet he never complained. He said it made him the man he was. He never said no. If Carol, the kids, the grandkids wanted anything, he was always there with a yes. He loved to tinker in his barn with his many items he would collect. He would go on a dump run and come back home with twice as much as he dropped off. Tom was a devoted husband, Dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He gave and received so much love for all of them. Tom had the most contagious and hearty laugh. He loved his family and was so happy when we were all together under the one roof. He was a proud man and so proud of each and every one of us. Tom helped raise three kids and from day one, he was there for them. He never left. Being a bachelor for many years and then joining a family of three young kids, he took it in stride and created a life with Carol that the kids could depend on and know that no matter what he was always there. He loved his kids with his very soul. His heart was so filled with love, and we are thankful it was us that could benefit from that love. The grandchildren – to Grampa Tom – were the most special people on earth and no one would tell him otherwise. He loved them with a love that we are not even sure he knew he had. If it was a card game in the middle of the night, teaching electrical work, making a set of corn hole boards with this grandsons without a template, or eating cookies made or brought to him while Grammy said no, these kids stole his heart. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. They will never doubt love that they received from him. If you ask the kids if there is anything more than his love for them it would be his many cats. He was a devoted cat lover and is missed by his favorite Maine coon cat Dusty. Tom is predeceased by his mother Clara (Terrio) Hapworth and Joseph Siviski. Tom is survived by his loving wife Carol and his children Tracy Anderson (VA Beach), Terry Hughes (Rome) and his wife Kim, Bethanny Hughes and her partner Tom Dubois (Frankfort) His grandchildren, Sherri Secotte and her partner Brent Meservey, Garrett Anderson, Victoria (Tori) Cooper and her husband John, Molly Krough and her partner Chelse Galipeau, Courtney Anderson, Alex Hughes and his partner Carter Veilleux. Great-grandchildren Karson, Kolten, Eleanor and John. Stepdad Lee Hapworth, brother Robert Siviski and his wife Sandy, sisters Katherine White, Shirley Madore and her husband Richard. Many nieces and nephews and cousins on both sides of the family. Especially Butch and Carol Lawrence and Sheila Pepoli. Tom loved them so very much and they were all so special to him. Tom had so many good friends throughout the years. If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you were his friend for life. He was warm, welcoming and loyal to the core. He lived and cared for his family and his friends like no other. He was a special man and will be missed by so many. Special mention goes out to Tom's very best friend since high school Joe Jacques and his wife Pam. Joe and Tom lived it up together and made some wonderful memories. Joe and Pam were there for Tom though the good times and the bad and to the very end they stayed loyal by visiting him and making sure he knew that the bond was strong no matter what got in the way. It was an amazing friendship that only comes around once a lifetime. Another special mention goes out to Tina Roy. She was such a great friend to Carol during the hard times when Tom could not be left alone. Carol worked and needed someone she trusted to sit with Tom and Tina was there to assist. She is now part of our family, and we will be forever thankful for the kindness, respect and overall love she gave Tom while he was home and then after he joined the nursing home. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Heidi Allan for assisting in the care of Tom.  When leaving her for the evening, he would be singing and smiling and just happy as can be.  We think it is because of all the ice cream she would give him.  The family would also like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Glenridge Nursing Home in Augusta for the care they gave Tom. A celebration of life will be scheduled in 2025.
