IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas J. "Tom" "Jim" LaChance
July 10, 1936 - October 10, 2026
Thomas J. LaChance, lovingly known as "Tom" and "Jim," passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born in Skowhegan, Maine, on July 10, 1936, he was the son of George and Rose (Roderick) LaChance. He attended Gardiner High School and spent many years working in shoe shops throughout the Lewiston-Auburn area. Later, he moved to Wells, Maine, where he worked at the Cabana Convenience Store, Motel and Campground. He eventually returned to Auburn and worked in Food Services at Central Maine Medical Center, retiring at the age of 77.
Tom loved bowling and was especially proud of winning a Candlepin Bowling Championship, an accomplishment that was televised. He was a member of the New Auburn Social Club and the Order of Red Men.
He enjoyed traveling throughout Maine with his beloved wife, Evelyn, and dear friends Bob and Ida Chase. These adventures were among his fondest memories, and he often shared stories of those special times together.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, George and Rose (Roderick) LaChance; his wife, Evelyn; his brothers, Albert, Robert, and Roland LaChance; and his cherished friends, Bob and Ida Chase.
He is survived by his sister, Donna Brown of Smithfield; his nieces, Laurie Milano of Hartland, Audrey Jones and her husband Ryan of Farmington, and Tami Farnsworth and her husband Shaun of Sidney; and his nephew, Jonethan LaChance and his wife Shawna of Sanford.
He is also survived by his stepson, Phil Rand; his step-grandchildren, Jamie Cormier and her husband, Jay, and their family, and Brian Cottrill and his wife, Trisha, and their family; and his adopted grandson, Ken Brackett; his wife, Josslyn; and their family.
In his later years, Tom was fortunate to receive the devoted love, care, and companionship of Kenny and his family, who became his primary caregivers and were a constant source of comfort and support. He especially treasured the time spent with his step-great-granddaughter, Taylor, whose visits and caring presence brought him great joy. He was also grateful to Brian and Trisha for their assistance with appointments, visits, and support, which helped make his later years more comfortable.
