Madison – Thelma Ann Whitney Hatch Hubbard, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12th, 2023. Thelma was born in Meriden, Connecticut on January 27th, 1928. She was the daughter of Harold and Hildreth (Libby) Whitney.
For several years Thelma and her late husband John Hubbard Sr ran the Getty Gas Station on the Albion Road in Unity. Upon retiring from there they ran "Thelma's Haven of Rest", an adult boarding home, on the Town Farm Road in Unity.
Thelma loved playing cards. Every Saturday night she would cook her homemade beans even though she couldn't eat them. She hosted annual Labor Day Cookouts. She loved company & visits. She loved feeding and cooking for her family and friends. She was a Christian who loved scripture and her church family. She met with Christians gathered to the Lord's name in Palmyra.
She was predeceased by her parents, first husband Lloyd W. Hatch, second husband John Hubbard Sr, daughters Gloria Hatch and Michelle MacManus, son Robert Hatch, and her siblings – Charlotte Temple, Vertina Jones, Reginald Flewelling, and Harold Whitney Jr.
Thelma is survived by her son Richard Hatch with wife Diane of Florida, son in law Leonard MacManus of Woodstock, New Brunswick, 2 stepsons Eddie Hubbard of Canaan and Sheldon with his wife Michelle Hubbard of Pittsfield, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday October 27th, 2023, at 11am at the Village Cemetery in Saint Albans, Maine. A funeral reception immediately to follow at the Thorndike Town Office at 125 Mt. View Road Thorndike, Maine.
