Obituary

Stephen Robert Knox of Laveen, Arizona passed away on February 15, 2025, after a four-year battle with kidney disease. Stephen was born on September 5, 1949, to Edmund and Mary Knox in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Deering High School in 1968 and then studied Business Administration at The University of Maine. In November of 1967, Stephen met Carol at Deering High school, and they were married on August 18, 1973. He was an Eagle Scout and part of The Order of the Arrow. He achieved his pilot's license at the age of 15 years old. He flew for Executive Airlines, Northeast Airlines, Maine Aviation and Air Maine where he met passengers George Bush Sr., Ted Kennedy, Rose Kennedy, Olympia Snow, George Michell, Governor Brennan and Governor McKernan and lastly John Glenn. He was a Master for the Temple Lodge AF & AM in Winthrop, Maine as well as served in the lodge in North Anson, Maine. Stephen was a pilot salesman for North Anson Reel Company. He also formed Kalor Company and sold Kreepy Krauly pool cleaners around New England which were invented by his Uncle Jerauld Wright. Stephen started T-K Sun N Snow retailing swimming pools, hot tubs and operated a Bombardier Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo franchise. He was a construction arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the Osteopathic Hospital in Waterville, Maine. He was a member of the Ski-Doo National Dealer Council, where he was able to work with Pierre Beaudoin who became a good friend. In 2005 Stephen and Carol moved to Laveen, Arizona where he worked at Apache Motorcycles as a salesman. At Apache he met his good friend Tim Alber and enjoyed seeing all his old Bombardier friends from Canada. He worked as well as volunteered for the City of Phoenix Navigator Program at Sky Harbor airport. He retired in 2021. During retirement he rediscovered his Scottish heritage and got connected to his ancestors. Stephen enjoyed bird and duck hunting in Maine with his good friend Phil Hargesheimer and his Brittany Spaniels; Toby, Misty and Timmy. He shared his love of flying with his grandson Chandler who became a pilot at 16 years old. Chandler took him for his last flight just a few days before he passed away. Stephen also shared his love of golf with Anthony, whom he had been coaching since the age of 4. Stephen was predeceased by his father Edmund, his mother Mary and brother Jeffrey Knox. He is survived by his loving wife Carol; daughter Katrina, her husband John, their children Isabel, Anthony & Elise of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Lorene, her husband Joshua, their children Chandler and Brooke of North New Portland, Maine. Visiting hours will be held at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center at 19 Washburn Lane Skowhegan, Maine on March 10, 2025, from 4-7pm. Services will be held at Western Mountain Baptist Church at 928 Carrabassett Rd. New Portland, Maine on March 11, 2025, at 2pm. A burial service will be held at Sunset Cemetery in North Anson on May 23, 2025, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Charles Schwab Challenge Grant at The First Tee of Phoenix at https://firstteephoenix.org/ or the Scholarship Fund at Aero Club of New England at https://acone.org/
