Canaan, Maine Shelley Mae Fitzgerald, 67, passed away at home Monday, October 14, 2024, with family surrounding her. Shelley was born February 19, 1957, the daughter of Charles Rodney Sabine and Beverly Ann Sabine (Buxton) in Waterville, Maine. She married Orrin E Fitzgerald on July 12, 1975, in Skowhegan. Orrin and Shelley moved to Oregon in 1977. They became the parents to Jessica Stromme (Fitzgerald) and Jeremy Fitzgerald. Shelley worked multiple jobs over the years; running her own house cleaning business, working as an educational assistant, running her daycare, and working at Shelley's Toybox, a children's store named in her honor by her granddaughter, Rylie. Her love of children filled so many of her days, through years of working at schools, teaching children at her daycare, and seeing kids enjoy picking out the perfect toy at the store. Her children and then grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren. Shelley was preceded in death by her father, Charles Rodney Sabine. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Sabine; her husband of 49 years, Orrin; children Jessica (Mike) of Billerica, MA, Jeremy (Jessica) of Canaan, ME; grandchildren Malika (Avery), Kaylie, Rylie, Wesley, Julia, and Joshua; great grandchildren Koda and Kaliah; and siblings Clayton, Scott, Steve (Kathe), Randie (Ron), and Wanda (Mike) as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 26, 1-3pm in the Fellowship Hall at the Federated Church, Skowhegan, Maine (13 Island Ave, Skowhegan, ME 04976). The family requests that bright and cheerful colors are worn by those attending, in honor of Shelley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shelley's honor to Taylor's Christmas Toy Drive, through Key Appliance in Skowhegan, ME. Taylor collects and distributes toys at Christmas to children in the hospital.
