Clinton – Shelby Marie Steward, 33, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2025. Shelby was born on January 5, 1992, in Skowhegan, Maine, daughter of Darlene A. Pressey and Brian H. Steward. She attended Skowhegan Schools, Canaan Elementary School, Lawrence High School, and Skowhegan High School.
When Shelby was in grade school, she participated in the after-school Drama Club. She loved acting and participated in Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts. She really enjoyed being involved in her brothers Boy Scouts activities and Camporees. She loved Boy Scouts better than Girls Scouts! Shelby loved to fish, camp, and repurpose furniture. Working with her hands brought her satisfaction, which is why she also loved creating jewelry, art pieces, and doing landscaping. Green was her favorite color. She loved frogs, live ones as well as collectables! Shelby loved meeting and talking to new people and she was always on the go as she could not stay in one place for too long.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Gary and Paulette Steward, step-grandfather David J. Emery, and a special cousin Casey Lyn (Harrington) LaBrie.
Shelby is survived by her mother Darlene A. Pressey with her partner Gary Huntly of Oxford, Maine; father Brian H. Steward with his wife Ellie of Canaan , Maine; sons Carter Noe' Gaxiola and Colten Tyler Gaxiola with their dad Jesse T. Gaxiola of China, Maine; brothers Brian J. Steward of Anson, Maine and Tyler J. Steward with his lifelong partner Britany Cyrus of Buckeye, Arizona; maternal grandmother Mary Stevens of Skowhegan, Maine; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday August 23, 2025, at 1:00pm, officiated by Reverend Mark Tanner at the East Side Cemetery on Oak Pond Road in Skowhegan, Maine. Following the service there will be a gathering at Brian and Ellie Steward's house at 73 Whitten Road, in Canaan, Maine. Please bring a chair to sit in. We will have some food, but any and all dishes will be appreciated.
