Sandra Staples Stackhouse, 69 years of age, passed away peacefully at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine, on December 20th, 2023, with her husband Doug and her sister Debbie by her side. Sandra was born at Thayer Hospital in Waterville, Maine, on November 4th, 1954, the daughter of Howard and Helen Staples of Waterville, Maine. Sandra attended Waterville High School and graduated in 1973. She attended the University of Maine in Orono and studied nutrition.
Sandra was a beloved member of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked as a secretary to a number of renowned doctors. She also worked as a medical transcriptionist. Sandra was a lifetime Type 1 Diabetic and helped many people with the same condition.
Sandra was extremely talented in crafts, and some of the pieces she knit for friends and family were extremely beautiful and clearly made with love. She had family and friends in many countries and kept in touch over the years.
Sandra is predeceased by her parents Howard and Helen Staples.
She is survived by her husband Doug, her sister Debbie and husband Mel, her sister Janice and husband David, her aunt Betty Staples, her aunt Carol Chick, her nieces and nephews Sarah, Beth, Michael, Janna, Dina, her cousins Jane Staples White, Bud Staples, Karen Staples, Cheryl Chick, Craig Chick, and many great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and medical professionals that assisted Sandra over the years, and the outpouring of love we have received from so many people is a wonderful tribute to this great lady. She will be dearly missed every day.
