Obituary

Norridgewock – Russel W Wentworth, 86, passed away on Wednesday 22, 2023. Russell was born in Waterville, son to Margaret (Spaulding) and Alfred W Wentworth. He attended Ferry School in Hinkley and Clinton Schools. He married his wife, Rosemarie Wentworth, on June 27, 1970. Russell worked at the Skowhegan State Fair Grounds for many years as maintenance and grounds keeper. He also worked at the Somerset Motor Lodge and Butlers Car Wash, both in Skowhegan, as well as at local farms in Hinkley in his earlier years. Russell's passion was going to the races in Unity, Wiscasset, and Oxford Speedways. He enjoyed going to the many fairs in the state of Maine, even going all the way down to the Fryeburg Fair close to NH. He would stay overnight in his 2014 Dodge caravan even in his eighties, it was a little scary knowing he was doing that, but he loved it. He loved coming to all the family gatherings and celebrations to see everyone. He also loved the ocean. He would make many trips by himself or with me on warm summer day. He was predeceased by both his parents, his wife of 44 years Rosemarie Wentworth, sister Shirley Mullen Williams, brother Richard Wentworth, as well as sister-in-law Shirley Wentworth and her daughter Sherry Wentworth (Tozier). Russell is survived by his daughters Patsy Fournier and Brenda Wentworth both of Waterville, sons Kevin with wife Sandy Wentworth of Fairfield and Chris Wentworth of Waterville, sisters Peggy with husband Jerry Pratt of Waterville and Carol Wentworth of Mass, brothers Daniel with wife Ethel Wentworth of Hinkley and Chester Wentworth of Norridgewock, along with several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Family would like to thank Fairview Redington hospital, Dr. Malyk, Jamie, and others who cared for him at the hospital through the years as well as Woodlands Senior Living for taking care and looking after him during his short residency with them. There will be a burial at Gould cemetery in Smithfield at a later date. Also, a Celebration of Life to be announced as well.
