Oakland, Maine - Roger Lawrence Grevois, 86, of Oakland, lovingly known as "Grampa" passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in his home surrounded by family who loved him. He served in the army from 1958 to 1962. He worked many jobs in his lifetime but the longest at MSAD #47 (RSU18) where he was head of maintenance and transportation. After he retired, he worked for the town of Oakland as a groundskeeper. He was known for being quite a carpenter and built his family many homes throughout his lifetime. Even as the years progressed, you could find him out in his "shop" with Mikie, his grandson, building something, whether it was a birdhouse, a piece of furniture, or a clock. If it was built by Roger then it was well built. Many of these hand-built pieces are seen as family treasures that will be handed down from generation to generation. Later in life, you would often see Roger sitting out front smoking his pipe and enjoying himself. He loved it when people could sit down and listen to his stories. He will always be remembered for his great smile, the twinkle in his eye and the love he showed to those around him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Roger is survived by his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Leatrice; his three children, Pamela Wadleigh and her husband, Bryce, Lori Stevens and her husband, Gary, and Peter and his wife, Sonja; his 5 grandchildren, Jared Wadleigh, Michael LaBrie, Dacoda Grevois, Skylah Grevois, and Mileva Garcia. Roger also had 7 great grandchildren who loved him dearly. The family would like to thank Maine General Hospice for helping us to keep Grampa at home. In particular, we would like to thank Linda, his nurse, Debra his social worker, and Erika the home health care aide, who he looked forward to seeing every time. It was Roger's wish not to have any memorial service and he will be laid to rest at a later date.
