Fairfield – Roger Paul Blaisdell, Sr., 78, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Roger was born in Waterville on October 28, 1946, son to Pauline Eva (Vigue) Chase and Reginald Keith Blaisdell, Sr. and was raised in Waterville.
Roger met his "Sweetie," Diane, at the local Singles Club. They soon married at the Town Office, much to the dismay of some at a private ceremony on June 1, 2004; recently celebrating their 21st Wedding Anniversary. Coming together with their own children respectively, they created many wonderful memories together. Roger was a good husband, and attentive father, and all-around provider who will be deeply missed.
He worked as a Millwright at Statler Tissue in Augusta for many years and retiring at the time of their closure. After retirement Roger continued "working" in a variety of delivery positions, from bakeries, to restaurants, and everything in between. People around town all recognized him and his Subaru Impreza.
Roger was an avid fisherman, golfer, and in his early days ran the local bowling league. He especially loved to fish Lake Thibodeau in Canada and adored his ultimate fishing spots in Alaska.
He was predeceased by both his parents, sisters Patricia and Joyce, son Rodney, Sr., and brothers-in-law Ronald Currie, Sr. and Paul Lawrence.
Roger leaves behind his wife Diane Elster (Baker) Blaisdell; children Roger Blaisdell, Jr. with his wife Ellen, Lori Connon with her husband Ryan, Kelly McDaniel with her husband Matt, and Wanda Castonguay with her husband Roger; grandchildren Victoria, Aaron, Gregory, Natasha, Blair, RJ, Brandon, Alex, and Abby; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers Mike with his wife Ann, Al, Reginald, Jr. with his wife Mary, and Ronnie with his wife Jackie; sisters Barbara Currie, Carol Lawrence, and Brenda Doucette with her husband Mark; several nieces and nephews; and a very special cousin, Joe Parady, who Roger enjoyed playing golf with over the years.
Special Thanks from the whole family to Bob for his amazing and dedicated care that he provided. His presence was always the light in Roger's days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Parker Reed Room located at Colby College – Mayflower Hill Drive in Waterville, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00am.
