Roderick Alois Jencks, age 66, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Roderick, affectionately known as “Speedy,” was born on August 24, 1959, at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Samuel Lawson Jencks Sr. and Anna (Fuchs) Jencks. He attended Toll Gate High School in Warwick, Rhode Island, graduating with the Class of 1977.

To those who knew him, Rod was a caring and hardworking individual who was always willing to help others. When he wasn’t lending a hand to family, he could often be found walking through his neighborhood, quietly picking up trash and caring for his community.

He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anna Jencks; and by his brothers, Charles Ross Jencks and Samuel L. Jencks Jr.

Rod is survived by his sister, Catherine (Jencks) Ayres, and her daughter, Natasha Jencks Ayres; his niece and nephews, Charles Brenke, Jason Jencks, David Jencks, Rose Jencks, Matthew Jencks, Philip Jencks, and Samuel “Jake” Jencks; his sister in law, Julie (Laliberte) Jencks; and his nieces in law, Kimberly Jencks, Angela Jencks, and Erin Jencks. He also leaves behind many cherished great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Lambke for his compassionate and professional care of Roderick. They also extend sincere thanks to MaineGeneral Hospice, MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta, Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, and Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for their dedication, kindness, and support throughout this journey.
