Robin (Bergeron) Zelonis, of Cornville, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 18, 2026, with her family by her side. She was 63 years old.
Robin was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on May 1, 1962, the daughter of Doris and Ernest Bergeron of Tyngsboro, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Tyngsboro High School in 1980. After high school, Robin began working with Head Start.
In 1989, Robin met her loving husband, Joseph Zelonis, and the two were married in 1990. They initially made their home in Londonderry, New Hampshire, where Robin opened and operated her own business, Appropriate Beginnings Child Day Care Center. In 2002, they moved to Cornville, Maine. Shortly thereafter, Robin began working at The Fabric Garden in Skowhegan, where she remained for more than two decades. There, she formed lasting friendships and enjoyed traveling with her coworkers to annual quilt shows throughout Maine, proudly displaying their wares at booths together.
Robin loved cooking, baking, and canning, always eager to try new recipes—with Joe happily serving as her taste tester. A master cross stitcher, she was most passionate about quilting and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting She spent countless hours creating beautiful handmade works of art in the quilt barn Joe built for her. Robin generously donated her time and materials to make comfort quilts for employees at the Alfond Center with the help of her friend Susie.
Throughout their years together, Robin and Joe shared a deep love of the outdoors and the wildlife that surrounds their beautiful home. They enjoyed snowmobiling with friends, snowshoeing on their beautiful property, riding motorcycles, and taking Sunday rides together that often included lunch along the way. Robin especially loved riding her robin's egg blue and white Harley Davidson. She was an avid Bruins fan and had a lifelong love of antique cars and trucks – a passion she shared with her family from a young age. She especially cherished the many cars and trucks her father collected and restored. After his passing, Robin and her mother continued an annual tradition in his memory, traveling to car shows and meets throughout the states. Along the way, they made a point to stop at every Harley Davidson dealer to bring home T shirts for Joe.
Robin loved a good Mai Tai—especially her own homemade version—and enjoyed going out for Chinese food with friends. She also delighted in stopping for ice cream while out on motorcycle rides or returning from appointments during her cancer treatment.
Robin was the very best "kitty mom" to the many cats she and Joe rescued over the years. She made sure her fur babies were warm and comfortable with their own mini quilts and handmade beds and provided them with a safe outdoor porch "catio" where they could enjoy sunshine and fresh air.
Robin loved life and had a quick wit and sense of humor that could make everyone in the room laugh out loud. She cared deeply for others, especially those in need, and loved her husband, family, and friends with her whole heart. She will be tremendously missed.
Robin is survived by her husband, Joe; her mother, Doris; her brother, Bobby Bergeron, and his partner, Dodi Clement; along with many cherished friends and extended family.
