Robert A. Jacques, of Bingham, Maine passed away on December 18, 2025 peacefully at home in Bingham, ME with family around him. He had just turned 90 years old and was the next to the youngest of four children. He was born in Skowhegan October 16, 1935 a son of Philip and Marion (Miller) Jacques.
Robert grew up in Skowhegan, Maine and graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1953. During high school, he met his sweetheart and future wife, Jeanette A. Rollins, from Bingham, Maine. They were married in Bingham, Maine in December 1954, built their own home, and had five children; Robert Jr., Mark, Sheila, Jeffrey, and Andrew.
During his lifetime, Robert (Bobby) pursued many professions. He worked at the Quimby Veneer Mill and then was manager of the State Liquor Store in Bingham, while also an active real estate agent. His entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to start an auto parts business, Jacques Distributors, in which he operated for 37 years along with the Bingham Agency Liquor store at the same location. He was the Registrar of Voters, sat on the budget committee and would often be involved in town affairs while assisting Jeanette in her town clerk duties. They both were pillars of the community with the rounded enthusiasm and willingness to assist most anybody that wound up at their storefront for any particular reason. Bobby and Jeanette loved the outdoors and were active skiers at Baker Mountain since they first met at a winter carnival. In 1967 they built a cottage on Embden Pond and spent many days and evenings on the lake, swimming, fishing, and sipping coffee during the sunset. Bobby was an avid deer hunter and fly fisherman, tying his own special flies for fishing in those secret spots. As their children grew, he loved to travel with his wife. He enjoyed going on cruises in the Caribbean and Mexico. They went on a special trip to Egypt to visit Jeanette's brother, Captain Everett Rollins, Jr. and family. Jeanette and Bobby loved to spend time with their grandchildren. They enjoyed watching them play sports in school, and spending time with them during the warm summers at camp. He was especially proud of his gardens and always had fresh vegetables and fruit which he shared with the community.
Bobby is survived by his sisters Jackie Elderkin and Carol Jacques and by his children (Robert Jr., Mark and wife Laurie, Sheila and husband Frankie, Jeffrey and wife Mary, and Andrew and wife Beatrice), and eleven grandchildren (Alexander Jacques, Patrick Jacques, Elizabeth Jacques, Zachary Nichols, Terry Nichols, Philip Nichols, Alicia Nichols, Amanda Jacques-Snow, Kory Jacques, Kristian Jacques and Tyler Jacques.
