Obituary

Richard (Rick) W Hunter of Skowhegan, Maine was born in Waterville on August 17, 1955, the son of Raymond and Barbara (Larsen) Hunter. Rick was educated in several schools and graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1976. He worked a number of different jobs. He spent 28 years of service at RFGH hospital and was known for his sparkling clean floors. He also worked for Advanced1 Cleaning Services. He enjoyed working at the T-Mobile facility and was last cleaning for Central Maine Motors businesses. Rick enjoyed being outside. You often found him taking walks with his wife through town or hiking the rail trail. He especially loved traversing the Breakwater trail along the coast. Many happy hours were spent outside with the grandkids as they played ball, shot Nerf guns, or rode their bikes. Rick loved to draw and color. He shared this love with his grandchildren. If Rick was not drawing with them, you might find him simply reading to them or playing a board game. Rick and Rose attended many churches, as their work schedules would allow at the time. Rick is pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond and Barbara Hunter; and brothers, Jeffrey Hunter and Ronald Hunter of Skowhegan. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Rose (Jipson) Hunter; his son, Timothy and wife, Alisha, Hunter of Madison; daughter Amanda Hunter of North Fort Myers, Florida; his three special grandchildren: Charlie of Madison, Cameron of North Fort Myers, Florida, and Everly Hunter of Madison. He is also survived by one brother, Brian and wife, Judy, Hunter of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Jipson, Christopher and Sharon Bottari, Rachel Smith, Josh Jipson, Kelsey Blake, and several cousins. Rick fell asleep with his wife by his side on November 18, 2025. A celebration of life will be held at the New Horizons Community Church in Skowhegan on December 13, 2025, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rick's memory to the New Horizons Community Church 31 E. Madison Rd. Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
