Skowhegan – Richard Bassett, 77, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Maine Medical in Portland from complications following an accident in May 2023 with family by his side. He was raised in Madison, ME. In addition to his family and congregation, Richard loved cats, guitars, and driving big trucks. He played in a band in his youth and continued playing guitar and singing into his 70s. He was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1972 and faithfully served in the congregation. Richard is survived by his dearly loved wife of 58 years, Beverly, his children, Michelle and her husband Bryan, Lori and her husband Philip, grandson Ryan and his wife Morgan, granddaughter Victoria, grandson Adam, and great-grandchildren, Everly and Marshall, with another on the way, sister Cheryl, sister Jan and her husband Jeff. A memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1252 Lakewood Rd, Madison, ME 04950 on April 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
