Skowhegan – Reginald Fred Woodman, 91, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025. Reggie was born in St. Albans on May 30, 1933, to Fred and Myrtle (Hunt) Woodman. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked in the woods, shoe shops as a hand sewer, and various other labor jobs.
Reggie was an avid hunter and fisherman and even shot his last deer at age 91. In younger years he loved to play baseball and really loved his team, the Boston Red Sox. He was a true poker and card player and was always watching to make sure everyone paid their "ante".
He was preceded in death by both his parents, aunts and uncles, stepsons Earl and James Hughes, infant son Reginald, brothers Cliff and Gordon, and sisters Alpine and Verda.
Reggie is survived by his wife Caroline (Tuttle) Woodman; daughters Gladys Kern of Palmyra and Rhonda Woodman of Pittsfield; stepsons Richard Hughes and wife Bonnie of Florida, Terry Hughes and wife Barbara of Hartland, and Clyde Merrill with his wife Theresa of Skowhegan; Calsie Merrill and partner Kelly, step daughters Vicki Albert with her husband Danny of Oakland, Kathy Heath with her husband Allen of Wisconsin, sister Florence Grignon of St. Albans; sister-in-law Joann Woodman; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank the VA, Reddington Memorial Staff, and Barbara from Beacon Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Reggie's home located at 446 Russell Road in Skowhegan, at 2:00pm on May 31st, 2025.
