Albion - Paul Ernest Michaud, 72, of Albion, Maine, passed away on August 26, 2026, at Maine General Medical Center, surrounded by his family, following a long illness.

Paul was born on August 13, 1954, in Waterville, Maine, the son of Ernest and Edna Michaud. He graduated from Winslow High School in 1973.

Paul worked for the Ethan Allen Company and David Mathieu Co., Inc., before spending the remainder of his career as an insurance adjuster with Allstate Insurance.

Throughout his years with Allstate, he continued to expand his knowledge and expertise in the insurance industry, completing advanced training and earning professional certifications related to claims adjusting, property damage assessment, and insurance practices. His dedication to continued learning strengthened the knowledge and experience he brought to his work throughout his career.

He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Waterville, Maine, as well as a member of the Waterville VFW Auxiliary.

A Life of Service Through Kiwanis

Paul was deeply involved with Kiwanis International and dedicated many years to its mission of improving the lives of children. He became a member of the Augusta Kiwanis Club in 1999 and went on to serve the club in several leadership roles, including as club secretary in 2014 and president in 2016. His commitment extended beyond his local club when he served as Lieutenant Governor for the New England and Bermuda District of Kiwanis.

Paul was instrumental in helping to build the Kiwanis Playground at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. With his tractor and elbow grease, he built foundations for the playground equipment as well as putting the equipment together, making sure everything was safely installed.

Paul was especially proud when he was presented with a Red Jacket from the Kiwanis Foundation of New England for his contributions to the Kiwanis Foundation.

The Man His Family and Friends Knew

Paul was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, stubborn streak, love of family, and his ability to fix just about anything. Whether it involved a household project, construction work, or figuring out what was wrong with someone's vehicle, Paul was often the person people turned to for help. He was also a storyteller, and those who knew him well knew there was rarely a shortage of stories to tell.

His ability to fix just about anything was rooted in a lifetime of working with his hands. From an early age, he and his brothers spent countless hours working on vehicles their father, Ernest, would purchase. Paul often took the lead on the bodywork, while his brothers tackled the mechanical repairs needed to get them back on the road. Whether they were working together in the garage on

Lithgow Street or later at the garage in Albion, repairing vehicles became more than just a practical skill—it was something shared between a father and his sons and a tradition that remained part of Paul’s life for many years.

Paul especially loved gardening. He loved his vegetable gardens, strawberry and potato patches in his younger years, and then fell in love with his flower gardens. He certainly had a green thumb and could bring anything that was on the verge of being discarded back to life. He spent some time teaching Linda about how to get the flowers to look their best and how to keep them lasting longer than anyone would expect. She admired that about him in many ways.

As much as Paul enjoyed working with his hands and tending his garden, nothing was more important to him than his family. He treasured his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them, whether it was on the ocean, playing in the backyard, working on a project together, or simply enjoying the ordinary moments that became some of the family's favorite memories. He certainly made an impression on Stacy’s horse, Cherokee, when she was in high school. Paul worked hard to get the stall/Lean To build before she arrived at the house in Albion. The horse was very fond of him and often looked forward to hearing his voice when he was outside.

The other name he was referred to as was Pepere. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Anthony and Nathan, on their trips to the ocean when they were young, as well as quiet times at his home. Renee always made it a point to visit him every week when the boys were small. Many visits to the brook out back to spend time in nature. He was also able to meet his newest grandson, Maverik. Maverik knew his name even at 11 months old.

Paul is survived by his wife, Linda Janeski; his children, Renee Michaud and her fiancé, Ken Webber, and Stacy Fowler; his grandchildren, Anthony Dow, Nathan Dow, and Maverik Fowler; his siblings, Michael Michaud and his wife, Lynette, John Michaud and his wife, Sue, Eva Miller and her husband, Jim, and Denise Michaud; his stepchildren, Craig Stanton and his son, Michael, and Kimberly Janeski and her sons, Keenan, Treyvonne, and Brenden; Nephews and Nieces, James Raymond, Eris Raymond, Jennifer Gordon, John Michaud, Jody Rexrode, Chad Michaud, Diana Hill, Heather Michaud, Lori Paradis, and Elizabeth Miller as well as his beloved cats, Lilly and Dolley.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Edna Michaud.

Paul leaves behind far more than the things he built, repaired, planted, or restored. He leaves behind the lessons he taught his daughters and grandchildren, the stories that will continue to be told, and a family that carries pieces of him forward. His life lives on in everyone who will hold a piece of him in their hearts, while his love of fixing and repairing things and his gardening will be remembered every time we see a vehicle in need of auto body repair or a flourishing flower garden. Those who loved Paul will miss his strength and perseverance, and although his absence will be deeply felt, the life he built and the memories he created will remain woven into his family for generations to come.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Waterville VFW. Burial will follow on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's memory to the Waterville VFW Auxiliary Post 1295 or the Fairfield American Legion Post 14, if desired.

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
