Obituary

Patricia F. Nelson, 84, of Skowhegan, Maine, passed away quickly and peacefully at home on Friday, May 29, 2026. Pat grew up in Skowhegan, the eldest daughter of Charles and Maude (Flynn) Burrill. She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1959 and later that year married Parker Nelson of Canaan. They proudly celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last November. Since birth, Mum was known for her bubbly personality and being the life of the party. She would reminisce with stories of Club with her cousins, digging bottles, antique hunting, flea market finds, and the thrill of the hunt collecting Beanie Babies. Aside from an occasional job here and there, Pat embraced being a housewife and mother to her three children, Lorri, Steve and Andy. She excelled at decorating in the primitive country style and cooking cherished recipes such as her oyster stew and peas and potatoes. Her favorite time of year was summer, when she could enjoy local greenhouses to find just the right annuals to plant. Her flowers always looked spectacular. Mum loved her family, the center of her universe. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She left a legacy of fun-filled memories and traditions they will never forget. Her four grandsons will always smile and laugh when they recall her teaching them how to sell a chicken to a deaf man. She truly lived life to its fullest. Pat was predeceased by her husband, Parker, in February, their son, Andrew, special cousins Pat Holden, Janet Pooler, and most recently, her aunt, Lorraine Quirion. She leaves behind her daughter, Lorri Cahill, husband Doug and their son Connor, son Steven, his wife Tami and their sons Bryan, Kameron and Chase, sister Judy Goodell, and 8 great-grandchildren: Brady, Alanna, Blake, Beckett, Everly, Oaklynn, Josie, and Lily, making her debut in the fall. There will be no visiting hours. A joint graveside service for Pat and Parker will be held this summer at Fairview Cemetery in Canaan. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Tammy and Nikky from Beacon Hospice, as well as Mum's devoted caregivers: Annie, Dakota, Deb, Hannah, Kim, Sandra and Tina. We appreciate all you did for her.
