In Loving Memory of Parker Eugene Parsons, Sr.
January 23, 1940 – May 30, 2025
We are saddened to share that our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Paker Parsons Sr passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on his grandfather's farm in Palmyra, Maine, Parker was the eldest son of Velman and Emily Parsons. Throughout his life, he called Maine is home. He was known for his unwavering faith, love of family and lifelong patriotism to his country.
He graduated from the Hartland Academy in 1958 and enlisted in the Army serving in Germany until July 1961. He returned to Maine and began a courtship with Rachel May Corson in December of 1961. They were married on July 1st, 1962. They moved to Norridgewock and had their first son, Parker Jr, in July of 1963. Darren would come in 1966 and Stacey in 1968. Parker and Rachel remained residents of Norridgewock residing on Frederick's Corner Road.
Parker was a member of the Baptist Church in Norridgewock, the American Legion in Madison and received his 50-year pin with the Old Fellows of Skowhegan. He played baseball in High School, played Soft Ball when he worked with the Norwalk Shoe Company, was an umpire for the Little League in Norridgewock and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, which he enjoyed with his family.
He worked for 20 years at the Norwalk Shoe Company until they closed in 1981 and worked 21 years at True Value Hardware in Madison. He retired in 2002. He loved to garden and raise animals.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rachel, three sons, Parker Jr, Darren and Stacey and his four sisters, Betty, Kathleen, Paula and Pauline, and many nieces and nephews. Parker, Sr. cherished his grandchildren including Stephanie, Brandon, Elizabeth, Olivia, Cassie, and Rowan and his great-grandchildren Howard and Evelyn.
As he wished, there will be no formal service other than the rendering of Military Honors. Parker will be laid to rest at the Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
