Obituary

Parker G. Nelson Parker G. Nelson, 87, of Skowhegan, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday evening, February 7, 2026, with his family by his side. Parker grew up in Canaan, the son of Bertram and Ethelyn Nelson. In 1959 he married Patricia Burrill, also of Canaan, and together they proudly celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past November. Parker worked for Keyes Fiber Company in Waterville, retiring in 2003 after 32 years of dedicated service. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping with family and friends. He took great pride in his yard and was often found mowing, trimming, raking, or snow blowing. Following his retirement, he spent much of his time puttering in his garage and socializing with anyone and everyone—especially the boys at Hight's Used Car Lot. Parker was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He took every opportunity to teach and to pass on a strong work ethic, and he succeeded. He had a "can do" attitude and believed that anything could be fixed. He was an old time original. He also carried a special place in his heart for his beloved family farm in Canaan. Parker was predeceased by his parents; his son, Andrew; his special uncle, Merle; and two dear friends, Wayne Jewell and Al Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Pat Nelson; daughter Lorri Cahill, her husband Doug, and their son Connor; and son Steven, his wife Tami, and their sons Bryan, Kameron, and Chase. He also leaves behind 7½ great grandchildren: Brady, Alanna, Blake, Beckett, Everly, Oaklynn, Josie, and a little one arriving in the fall. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Beacon Hospice, notably Tammy and Nikky, for their kindness and care for Parker. They are also deeply grateful for the love and support from their amazing caregivers: Sandra, Deb, Annie, Hannah, Dakota, Kim, and Tina. We were truly blessed.
