Nada Grant, of Canaan and Skowhegan, took her place in eternity on Tuesday, September 1st , at Redington-Fairview General Hospital.

Mom was born on April 10th, and we were told explicitly that her age, nor her date of birth, would appear in her announcement of passing.

When Mom spoke, we learned to pay attention.

When Mom and Dad had a young family, they served as house parents at Good Will-Hinckley School.

After living on campus and in Hinckley for several years, they made the move to Canaan.

Nada worked a few part-time jobs, but she was primarily a stay-at-home mom, raising her own kids and helping care for neighborhood kids as well. After our dad, Harry, passed away at an early age, Mom returned to full-time work as a secretary at Good Will-Hinckley School. Always one to push the limit, she continued working until she was 71.

While working in the Prescott Building, she forged very special relationships with staff members and dozens of students at the school. Those years always held a special place in her heart.

Again, in her own determined way, she drove until she was 89 and insisted on living on her own, which she did until August.

Nada (Mom) was predeceased by her husband, Harry; her infant son, Ricky; her daughter, Rhonda (Grant) Tracey; both her parents; and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Grant of Canaan and Randy (Traci) Grant of Canaan; her daughter, Raye Lynne (Kurt) Wentworth of Skowhegan; and her son-in-law, Rick Tracey of Skowhegan. Grammie Grant had seven grandchildren: Katie (Brian) Kendrick of New Hampshire, Keith (Miranda) Burns of Skowhegan, Kris (Sasha) Gotsmanov of Minnesota, Tyler (Sarah) Tracey of Lewiston, Tim (Nichole) Tracey of Winslow, Dylan (Emily) Wentworth of Norridgewock, and Dana (Mike) Tessier of Skowhegan. Her family was completed by her 16 great-grandchildren. Mom always said she had a good-looking brood.

Nada is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with many, many dear friends.

Among the special people in her life were Mel, Pam, Brenda, Debbie, Noni, and Jean.

Our family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Redington-Fairview General Hospital and Cedar Ridge for the tender care shown to Mom during her short stay at each facility.

A very warm thank-you to Kelly at Redington-Fairview and to Lilly at Cedar Ridge for their kindness and care.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Otto Prokop for always making Mom feel as though she were his only patient.

Mom lived her life believing that everything happens for a reason, as we all should.

Nada was proud to have lived life on her own terms, right up to the last few days of her 95 years….oops!

A memorial service for Mom will be held at the First Congregational Church of Norridgewock located at 36 River Road in Norridgewock, on Sunday, October 11th, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. After the service, we will take her just down the road to Old Oak Cemetery on River Road, where she will be laid to rest. Family and friends are invited to join us at the church afterward for a reception and a time to share memories of a life so well lived.
