Skowhegan – Melissa A. Plourde, 52, passed peacefully at Cedar Ridge Center on September 30, 2024. Melissa was born in Skowhegan on December 6, 1971, daughter of James T. Plourde Sr. (deceased September 15, 2014), and Marjorie (Jane) Plourde. She was a class of 1989 graduate of Skowhegan High School, where she participated in many Special Olympic events and won numerous awards. Melissa is survived by her mother, Marjorie (Jane) Plourde; three brothers, James Thomas Plourde Jr. "Tom" of Catawba, NC, John Timothy Plourde "Tim" of Skowhegan, and Joseph Theodore Plourde "Ted" of Skowhegan; three aunts, Sylvia (Jane) Post, Leona (Plourde) Turcotte, and Ester (McNalley) Plourde; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame de Lourdes church located on Water St. in Skowhegan, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11:00am. Followed immediately by the Rite of Committal at Calvary Cemetery located on North Avenue in Skowhegan. No visiting hours are scheduled. Father James Nadeau to officiate. Arrangements are in the direction of Dan and Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 19 Washburn Lane in Skowhegan.
