Somerset Valley Remembrance Center
1:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
Mary Louise Laweryson, 72, passed away unexpectedly in her home on June 13, 2026.
Mary was born on January 13, 1954 in Camden, Maine to the late Frank and Ruth (Packard) Kennedy. As a child, Mary moved to Skowhegan where she received her education and graduated from Skowhegan Area Memorial High School.
She was employed as a hostess/waitress at Whittemore’s restaurant for four years before working for Kennebec Valley Community Action Program in the head start classroom. She continued working several years in childcare, including opening her own business, Peek-a-Boo Daycare in 1980. Following the closing of her daycare, she worked within the public school system for several years. She then reopened her daycare business until the age of 62 when she retired to become a full-time caregiver for her mother.
Mary was a very social person who enjoyed dining out and meeting new people. One of her favorite activities was attending racing weekends at The Barn Yard All Terrain. She drove around on her golf cart, visiting different families and cheered on Mud Mutt. Her racing family was an important aspect of her life.
She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ruth Kennedy.
She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Laweryson, her children Kelly Gordon and Amber Blanchard, her step-son Robbie Laweryson, and her grandchildren Gavin, Kinley, Corbin, Kaydence and Danny. She also had two step great-grandchildren, Huxley and Oakley. She also leaves behind her sister Shirley Rice, her brother, David Kennedy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held on August 22, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center in Skowhegan, Maine, with graveside services to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
