Oakland – Marjorie "Laney" Peet, 83, passed away peacefully at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, surrounded by her loving daughter, Mishel St. Amand.
Born in Waterville, on February 11, 1942, she was the daughter of Romaine Colford and Romeo Bernard. Laney graduated from Waterville High School in 1960. She lovingly raised five children.
She was employed at several jobs. A talented crocheter, she created many beautiful afghans. Her greatest joy, however, was singing. Laney often performed at local karaoke venues, winning contests and delighting those who heard her. Many recognized her as "the lady who sings."
She was predeceased by her son Tony Quirion and her grandson Ross Quirion.
Laney leaves behind her life partner Clinton Ingraham; her children Alan Quirion, Cathleen Stewart with her husband Steve, Carol Quirion, and Mishel (Chabot) St. Amand; along with many grandchildren.
Her message to all: "Weep not for me as I go to sing with all the angels in the best choir there is. See you on the other side."
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Waterville VFW or the Fairfield American Legion. Laney was a proud member of the Grower Hinkley Pod #14 Auxiliary and the Waterville VFW Auxiliary.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date, with karaoke in remembrance of Laney.
