Marc Frederic Provost, 80, passed away peacefully after complications from a brief illness on Thursday, November 30th, 2023, at his residence at Granite Hill Estates in Hallowell, ME, embraced by his loving daughter and daughter-in-law. Marc was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1942 and grew up in Secaucus, NJ. He graduated from Weehawken HS, and later earned his Masters at Fairleigh Dickenson University. He spent his 42-year career at Met Life in Manhattan where he met his loving wife, Linda M. Provost. Marc and Linda spent 42 wonderful years together until her passing in 2010. After 44 years in Rutherford, NJ, Marc moved to Granite Hill Estates where he always dreamed of retiring. He is most remembered for: being a bell-ringing Rutherford HS band parent, "the best" boss at Met Life, an actor, bowler, expert on and collector of movies/serials/radio shows, fisherman, cross-stitcher, treasured friend, devoted husband, and a loving father. Marc was predeceased by his wife Linda (Kania) Provost, parents Howard and Hattie Provost, and cousin John "Jack" de Rosset. Marc leaves behind his daughter Nancy Provost and her wife Mary Joseph, cousins D. Wayne and Sherry de Rosset, Rita de Rosset, Russell and Elizabeth Mildenberg, and their respective families, chosen granddaughter Aja (Knowles) Cagnacci and her family, his Maine family the Josephs, as well as countless extended family and friends near and far, including his Serial Family. Marc's family extends sincere gratitude for the exceptional care he received in recent years: Gray Birch Rehabilitation, Maine Medical Center, New England Rehabilitation, Maine General 1 West, Maine General Hospice. Nancy and Mary would like to express deep gratitude to everyone at Granite Hill Estates, who made Marc's last years the happiest of his life, and ours as well. According to his wishes, Marc was cremated and will have celebrations of life in both Maine and New Jersey. Marc's family invites those in Maine to join us in remembering and celebrating his life on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023, at Granite Hill Estates in Hallowell, anytime between 1-3pm. A graveside service and celebration in New Jersey will be announced in the spring.
