Obituary

Lois A. Lawson, 88, of Skowhegan, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 2, 2013 in Athens, Maine. She was born February 18, 1925 in Sangerville, Maine, the daughter of Leslie Knowlton and Rebecca (Hill) Knowlton. Lois graduated from Sangerville High School in the class of 1943. She married Leonard Lawson Sr. in May of 1968 in Lewiston, Maine. She worked at the Maine Spinning Mill; Wyandott Mill, Central Maine Yarn Manufacturing, and Forest Yarns in Sydney for most of her life. Lois loved to do cross-stitching, crafts, crossword puzzles, walking; flower gardens, watching NASCAR, and she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her two children; Jeanne Smith and her husband Norman of Rockwood, William LeBlanc and his wife Judy of Corinth, one brother, Leroy Knowlton of Dexter, two grandchildren; Sonia Smith of Portland, Stephanie Alexander and her husband Chuck of Harpswell, two great-grandchildren; Madison and Sammy, one step-son Leonard Lawson Jr. of Manchester, many nieces and nephews and many friends. Lois was predeceased by her parents, her husband Leonard, her brother Frank Knowlton, her step-brother Russell Adams, and step sister Alice Grant. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
