Lewis Frederick
Wellman, Jr.
Jan 29, 1950 — Jul 26, 2026
Vassalboro, Maine
Lewis Frederick Wellman Jr., son of Lewis F. Wellman Sr. and Alice Leona Tracy Wellman, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2026, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lewis worked as a laborer and truck driver for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cruising, and traveling with family and friends. He loved family gatherings and four-wheeling whenever he had the chance; those moments were his happy place. Lewis was very social, made friends wherever he went, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lewis was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Leona Wellman; his brothers, Clayton, Keith, and Leland Wellman; and his sister, Maxine Cole.
He is survived by his brother, Gene, and his wife, Wanda; his sister, Irma “Snookie” Morton of Oakland; his sister, Louise Rideout of South China; his son, Ben Campbell, and his wife, Monica, of Livermore; his daughter, Stacy; his stepson, Chad Pomeroy, and his wife, Jasmine, of Augusta; his granddaughter, Ashley Cobb, and her husband, Bryce, of Turner; his grandsons, Christian Faria, Tyler Pomeroy, and Colton Pomeroy; his granddaughter, Isla Pomeroy; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, companion, and wife of many years, Linda, and his furry best friend, Buddy.
The family would like to thank Hospice for all their support, especially nurses Julie and Linda, with extended thanks to Dr. Benton and the New England Cancer Center. Special thanks also go to Sherry, Ashley, Chad, Jasmine, and Kristyn for their support during his final days. There will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In accordance with his wishes, Lewis’s ashes will be laid to rest in his favorite place in the woods of Jackman, Maine—a place that brought him peace, solitude, and some of his happiest moments. Though this location remains known only to those closest to him, his memory will forever live on among the quiet waters and towering pines he loved so deeply.
