WELLINGTON — Lawrence Calvin Trafton, 87, passed away at his home on October 20, 2026, in the same house where he was born and lived his entire life.

Lawrence was born in Wellington, the youngest of four children of Leon and Gladys (Whitehouse) Trafton. He grew up on the family farm and devoted his life to dairy farming, first alongside his father and later with his wife and son. Farming was not only his livelihood, but also a way of life that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic.

On August 16, 1959, he married Frances Merrill. Together, they shared 67 years of marriage. Lawrence enjoyed spending time at camp, hunting, riding his ATV, and being outdoors. He was known for his quiet nature and private spirit.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances (Merrill) Trafton; his son, Merrill Trafton and his wife, Belinda; his granddaughter, Megan (Trafton) Douglass and her husband, Thomas; his great-grandsons, Trafton and Cassius Douglass; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, his dog Towzer.

Lawrence was predeceased by his parents; his son, David, in July 1979; his sisters, Vivian Davis and Leah Bussell; his brother, Kleba Trafton; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services. Burial will take place at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in Wellington at the convenience of the family.
