Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Larry Main, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Larry departed this life on June 13, 2026, at the age of 79, following a valiant battle with COPD. Born on June 22, 1946, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he lived a life marked by service, devotion, and an unyielding zest for life.

Larry was the beloved son of Elvin and Rita Main, who predeceased him, along with his dear sister, Patricia Kirby. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy endures in the hearts of those who survive him: his devoted wife of 15 years, Lorraine Ann Therrien Main, whom he married on August 27, 2011, in Waterville, Maine; his sons Jeffrey, Corey, and Tobey; daughters-in-law Melissa and Mellissa; and his 12 grandchildren—Dylan, Jacob, Rebekah, Gavin, Casey, Ethan, Zoey, Sarah, Evan, Emerson, Malia, and Madison. Larry is also lovingly remembered by his remaining siblings, Valerie, Marcia, Tom, Steve, Gary and Debbie, his In-laws Mary, Lonnie, David, Christina, Jeremy, and Rebecca as well as their spouses, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Main family extends a special thank you to Steve and Laura Duffy and their family for all the help and support they provided to Larry and Lorraine over the years.

Larry's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and achievements. At a tender age, he began his lifelong journey in work and responsibility, starting on a farm hauling hay and progressing to a newspaper route. His industrious spirit led him through various jobs, from restaurants to golf courses, before he bravely chose to serve his country at 17 as a paratrooper in the US Army. His love for the thrill of jumping out of airplanes was matched by his dedication to service.

After his military service, Larry ventured into sales, making a name for himself selling Rainbow Vacuum cleaners. His dedication and talent in sales earned him many awards and enabled him to mentor others, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience. Beyond his professional life, Larry was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Americans Veterans Organizations, demonstrating his enduring commitment to his fellow servicemen and women.

Larry's passions were as varied as they were deep. He found joy on the golf course, in the skies with his private pilot's license, and in the simple pleasures of playing guitar and singing karaoke with his loved ones. Boating and family time were also close to his heart. His radiant smile and infectious joy were constant in the lives of those around him. A devout Christian, Larry's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he held a profound love for Jesus Christ, which he shared openly with his community.

A burial service will be held at 1pm on August 27th,2026 at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery 143 Blue Star Ave, Augusta, Maine, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 887 at 509 Leighton Road in Augusta. As we gather to celebrate his life, we are reminded of the light he brought into the world and the love he left behind.

The Main family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine, for their compassionate care and support during Larry's final days. Larry Main's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him.
