Skowhegan – Larry Heller, 69, passed away on July 14, 2025, after a brief illness at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. Larry was born on October 15, 1955, the oldest son of Max and Luella (Bensing) Heller. He was raised in Brewster, where he received his education and graduated from High School. Later he joined the Carpenter's Union and worked at the Hanford Nuclear Plant.
Larry was an avid motorcycle enthusiast which included many trips across the country, meeting and making lasting friendships. Through these adventures he discovered and purchased land in Central Maine where he eventually moved full-time in 1989. This move came with many interesting job opportunities that Larry could contribute with his talents and expertise, such as the Cupola at the Maine Maritime Academy, and later as a foreman at Peachy Builders. Ultimately, he went into business for himself establishing Mid-Maine Furniture and Cabinetry in Skowhegan. He specialized in heirloom quality furniture and kitchen cabinets for many years.
He was preceded in death by his youngest sister Mary Ellen Heller.
Larry is survived by his life partner of 40 years, Stacey Pugh; sister, Carol Wortham of Tioga, North Dakota; and his brother, Johnny (Wendy) Heller; along with many nieces and nephews.
Though his physical presence is gone, his influence on our lives remains. Larry's journey here is complete, his struggles behind him, and our memories of his wonderful spirit and love will continue to guide and comfort us. Rest in Peace.
