Kathleen “Kitty” N. Laury, 96, of Skowhegan, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2016 in Skowhegan, Maine. She was born June 18, 1919, in Solon, Maine, the sixth of seven children of Percy A. and Alice (Padham) Jackson. She was educated in area schools. Kathleen married David Laury on May 29, 1948, in Skowhegan, Maine, he died in 1995. During World War II Kathleen worked as a welder on the Liberty Ships at the South Portland shipyards and in the 1950’s she worked at the woolen mill and shoe shops in Skowhegan. She retired in 1962 She is survived by her grandson Steven Breingan, her great-grandson Shane Tenney, she also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter Jackie Ellis, her siblings; Ethelyn Davis, Evelyn O’Donald Price, Beulah Berry, Linwood, Elmer and Alfred Jackson Sr. Viewing hours will be held on Monday April 18, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave,. Skowhegan, Maine, with a funeral service to be held on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with a burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Solon.
