Joyce Ann Edgerly Hamrick, 84, of Madison, Maine, died peacefully on July 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life began on December 16, 1939, in Waterville, Maine, as she was born to Helen (Clark) and Wilbert Edgerly. She was the youngest of six. Growing up she loved riding her bicycle and as an adult, often dreamed of riding across the U.S. as a teen, her first jobs were picking beans, and cleaning & packing eggs at local farms. In 1958, Joyce graduated from Madison High School and went on to enlist in the U.S. Airforce, where she served as a secretary until 1962. She was married to Jerry K. Hamrick from 1962 until 1988 and made a home in Warren, Ohio where she raised five children. Joyce worked as a Daycare Assistant at Warren Christian School and then went on to become the beloved Head School Cook. Her delicious home-cooked meals and desserts were loved by students and staff, with second helpings a constant request. In 1985, she returned to her hometown of Madison, Maine, where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Solon Mfg. in Skowhegan and as an Apparel Processor at the Waterville Wal-Mart. She loved God and spent many hours praying for her family, friends, and others. She had a passion for cooking, baking, sewing, and crafts. Her favorite past-times were baking a variety of delicious cookies that she graciously shared with everyone, and hand-crafting beautiful Raggedy Ann dolls.
