Obituary

Norridgewock – Joseph Donald Cloutier, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025, with his devoted wife Susan of 55 years, by his side. Born in Madison on March 12, 1942, Joseph was the son of Clarence and Shirely (Brown) Cloutier. Joseph attended Skowhegan High School and later earned his GED through the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for 24 years in the Army, Coast Guard, and Air Force. Beyond his military service, Joseph was a dedicated mason and Shriner. He was a man who loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping. Above all, Joseph was a family man – a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His devotion to his family was unwavering. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Brown) Cloutier; sons Timothy French, Randy French, Mark Cloutier, Raymond Cloutier, and Todd McCain; daughter Rebecca Stubbs and her husband, Merle II; and his sister Linda. He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Scott French, Justin French, Logan French, Christopher and Cody French, Xavier and Alejandra Cloutier, Merle Stubbs III, Lisa, and Krista, as well as Cheyeanne, his granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents Shirley Quinn and Clarence Cloutier; great-grandparents Jim and Pauline Brown; and brothers Edgar, Robert, and Richard. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Beacon Hospice, Tammy Heatley, and Rebecca Stubbs who devoted their time and compassion to care for him until he passed. No services will be held at this time. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date at the VA Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
