Skowhegan - John E. Chase, 65, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2023. He was born on January 2, 1958, in Skowhegan, son of Howard and Verna (Jeanne) Chase.
John spent much of his working years exercising his talent as a true "Mr. Fix-It". He had an uncanny ability to fix just about anything. For him, where there was a will, there was a way, and he could always figure out unique and creative ways to repair what was once broken.
When not tinkering on something, including his many demolition derby cars, John enjoyed relaxing with his friends and loved ones. He could often be found playing cards, watching football, having campfires & grilling his famous BBQ ribs. Most important, during all these activities, was his love for making everyone around him laugh with his quick wit and super-sized sense of humor. He cherished those moments spent with loved ones, creating lasting memories for everyone.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his son, Steve Chase.
John is survived by his loving companion Patrica Mushrow and their dog Bear, daughters Tiffany Chase and Kathi Burnham, sisters Barbara Bowen and Elizabeth Thompson with husband Keith, two generations of nieces and nephews, and lifelong best friend Steve Demo whom he always considered his brother.
The family would Iike to express our sincerest heartfelt appreciation to John's companion, Patricia. It was because of her that John was able to remain at home with the people and things he loved most for the rest of his time here. She gave him the greatest gift anyone could have ever given him. Thank you, Patty, for everything.
A Celebration of Life will be held next summer to honor John's memory. While details of the event are not yet determined, we do hope that when it is time, all will join us in remembering John E. Chase, a remarkable individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
