Oakland – Jerry S. Powell, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Oak Grove Nursing Hom in Waterville with family at his side. Jerry was born on November 11, 1940, in Oakland, son to Appleton and Phyllis (Brickett) Powell. He attended Oakland schools and received his GED by working hard with his granddaughter, Selina Grivois, in1994. Jerry worked as a woodsman, chicken plant operator, Diamond Match, Woolen Mill, and ultimately retired from Statler Tissue in Augusta after 14 years employment. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and camp. Jerry loved playing guitar and spending time with family and friends. He was always ready for a day trip. He was predeceased by both his parents; son Keith; brothers Richard, Reginald, and Forrest with his wife Mildred; sisters Sherlene, Priscilla Butler with her husband Percy, and Judith; one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and many special friends. Jerry is survived by his wife Janice (Furbush) Powell, daughter Brenda Grivois with her husband Victor, son Eric, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister Rosie with her husband Roy Tukey, and brother David Powell. Burial will be in the Spring at Lewis Cemetery. Details to be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank Oak Grove Nursing Home for the care they provided.
