Smithfield – Ica Eva Stevens Taylor Grover, 87, passed away Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan. Ica was born September 8th, 1935, in Smithfield, daughter of Merle and Ruby Brooks Stevens. She attended school at The Gould School in Smithfield. Ica worked at an early age at the Corn Shop in Norridgewock, Norwock Shoes, at a Salon manufacturer in Skowhegan, the girl's reformatory in Gardiner, the Augusta State Hospital, and ultimately retired from Cascade Wooden Mill in Oakland. Ica enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was always happy making things for anyone. She collected anything with cardinals on them and loved watching her birds at the feeders in the yard. She was predeceased by both her parents; husband Delwyn D. Grover; former husband Phillip M. Taylor; daughter Gail (Taylor) Clair; 2 great-grandsons; Mother and father-in-law Albert and Bernice Grover; mother and father-in-law Wallace and Geneva (Wilder) Taylor; Sisters Barbara (Stevens) Hardy, Leila Becksworth, Shirley (Alfred) Markham, and Beverly (Hebert) Adams, brothers Ernest Stevens, Oliver Stevens, and Marvin Jones; brothers-in-law Charles Hardy, Kenneth Salley, Emery Taylor, and Richard Henson; Sister-in-law Evelyn Henson; nephews Richard Salley, Oliver Stevens; Alton Stevens, and Joey Stevens; nieces Donna Salley and June Stevens; aunts Stella (Brooks) Bulner, Ruth (Holt) Brooks, and Lois (Eben) (Brooks) Dudley, as well as uncles Lloyd Brooks and Leroy Brooks. Ica is survived by daughter Sandra (Taylor) Coughlin; grandsons Jeffrey Phillip Clair, Randall Clair with wife Maureen, Neil and Robert Crosby; along with six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care she received at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan.
