SKOWHEGAN – Helen Clare (Turcotte) Flewelling, 84, passed away on Dec. 8, 2023. Helen was born in Skowhegan on June 5, 1939, daughter of Thomas Joseph and Georgianna Caroline (Plourde) Turcotte. Helen graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1957. She married Robert George Flewelling on June 28, 1958, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan. They were married 65 years until his death on August 18, 2023. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She was the proprietor of The Little Rascals Daycare for several years. She also worked in food service for MSAD #54 until she retired in 2009. She was a lifelong parishioner of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Robert Turcotte of Lewiston, and her husband, Robert Flewelling of Skowhegan. Helen is survived by her children, Susanne Manocchia and husband Robert of Ohio, Michael Flewelling and wife Leanne of Florida, Anne Sarah and husband John of Rhode Island, Nicole Joler and husband Joseph of Skowhegan; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St. Skowhegan on June 22, 2024, at 11:00am with the Rite of Committal immediately following at Calvary Cemetery, Skowhegan. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart and Edwards Funeral Home.
