Skowhegan- Gloria Jewell Hewett, 87 passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Canaan on July 15, 1927 to Harry and Lillace (Burrill) Jewell. She was a nursing cadet until her marriage to Orris Churchill Hewett in 1946. They owned and operated Lily Pond Dairy Farm until he passed in 1985. She owned and operated an Antiques & Collectible shop for several years. She was a past member of the Lioness Club, Mayflower Society, Grange and Amway. She loved the Christmas season, Cardinals, Noritake, Flowers and Teddy Bears. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Folsom, and her husband Michael, and Lorri Hewett; two sons, Orris Timothy Hewett, and his wife Sharon, Jeffrey Hewett, and his wife Joanne; grandchildren; Chris Folsom and his companion, Tina Aliff, Todd Folsom and his wife, Janine, Christie Paradis and her husband, Paul, Lynn Charrier and her husband, John, Ericka Hertlein and her husband, Joseph, Timothy Hewett, Matthew Quimby and his wife, Kristen, Nicholas Quimby and his wife, Amanda, and Shawn Hewett; great-grandchildren, Derek Folsom, Kelly & Adam Folsom, Addison Paradis, Sarah Charrier, Kadin & Sedona Hertlein, Makayla, Kallie & Mackenzie Quimby, Noah, Zachary, Joslynn and Isaiah Hayes; and a sister, Rosemarie Fernald. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Gail Merrick and two brothers, David & Charles Jewell. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave. Skowhegan, ME. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Ave. Skowhegan, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan. The family wishes to thank the staff at RFGH and most recently HealthReach Hospice.
