Waterville – Gloria Jean Bessey, 72 passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the Oak Grove Center in Waterville, surrounded by family. Born in Waterville, on August 2, 1952, Gloria was the cherished daughter of Marie Gertrude Poulin and Henry Paul Fortin. Gloria moved to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she lived and worked. There she married Simon LeBlanc and later returned to Waterville. They shared two wonderful children together.
A talented seamstress, Gloria's artistry and dedication were woven into the fabric of her life. For decades, she brought beauty and joy to others through her meticulous craftsmanship, whether by creating garments, mending cherished heirlooms, or designing quilts that told their own stories. Gloria's hands worked tirelessly, not just with needle and thread, but with love and care that transformed ordinary fabric into extraordinary treasures.
Gloria found happiness in life's simple pleasures—camping under the stars, sitting by a crackling fire, ice fishing, and cooking hearty meals from the game her family hunted. These moments, shared with her loved ones, defined her deep connection to family and nature. She will always be remembered for her warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Gloria is now reunited with her beloved husband, Donald Bessey, who passed away January 11, 2022.
She leaves behind her daughter Linda LeBlanc (Frank) Ginac and son Steve LeBlanc; her stepchildren Tabatha Bessey and Travis (Becky) Bessey; her brothers Richard Fortin, Steve (Helen) Gleason and Danny Gleason; and her adored grandchildren Vaughn, Andrew, Kiley, Jeremy, Justin, Brandon, Steven and Carroll, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
