Oakland, Maine — Gerald D. Veilleux passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, after a long illness. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick sense of humor, devotion to family, and the many quiet talents he shared throughout his life.

Gerald was born in Waterville, Maine, on November 17, 1939, the son of Leopold “Paul” and Grace (Tondreau) Vigue. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1958 and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army, from which he was honorably discharged.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Gerald retired from Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter. He was also a member of the American Legion, where his service and commitment to others were reflected in the friendships and community he valued.

Gerald lived an active and accomplished life. He was a champion skeet shooter, a skilled woodworker, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brother. Whether working with his hands, spending time outdoors, or gathering with loved ones, Gerald brought patience, warmth, humor, and care to those around him.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Grace; his wife, Virginia; his brother, Donald; his sister-in-law, Mary; and his stepdaughter, Victoria.

He is survived by his children, Keith and his partner Karen, Vicki and her partner Hans, and Paul and his partner Jodi; his stepchildren, Cheryl and her partner Norman, Paul and his wife Loretta, and Penny and her husband John Goodale; his sister, Sandra Saucier; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

A military service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
