Obituary

George Raymond Fleetwood of Starks, Maine, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on July 21, 1940, George was the son of Cora Marie (Laflamme) and William Fleetwood. He will be remembered as a quiet, steady presence whose love for family and simple pleasures brought comfort to those around him. George was predeceased by his siblings Adalard Fleetwood, Pauline Poplowski, Larry Fleetwood, William Fleetwood Jr., Jeanne Cusak, and David Fleetwood. George proudly served in the United States Army for nine years. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Korea as part of a Military Police K-9 unit for four years and later served as a cook at Fort Benning, Georgia. After his military service, George worked for 18 years in quality control at American National Can in Milford, Massachusetts, where he later retired. George found joy in life's simple moments. He loved watching the Red Sox, working on puzzles and dot-to-dots, and sticker books—small pleasures that brought him happiness and reflected his gentle nature. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Donna Fleetwood of Starks, Maine; his stepdaughter, Shirley Lataille of Madison, Maine; and his stepson, Daniel Lataille of Cushing, Maine. At George's request, there will be no funeral services. His family is grateful for the kindness, support, and condolences shown during this difficult time.
