Farmington - George Vernon Brown, Sr., 88, passed away on October 20, 2025, with his loving family by his side. George was born on April 27, 1937, in Auburn, ME, son to Vivian Augustine (Binette) and Vernon Clement Brown.
George was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He was a dedicated cryptographer in the U.S. Marines for nineteen and a half years, serving with distinction until his retirement in 1973. He then turned his focus to the local community, working various roles from a Toe Laster at Franklin Shoe, and Bass Shoe, to a Grounds Keeper for the Town of Jay. Despite his work commitments, George always found time for his hobbies, which included hunting, fishing, and gardening. However, what mattered most to him was his family.
He was predeceased by both his parents, his beloved wife, Susan Brown, his son, George Jr., his great-granddaughter, Brylee Hutchinson, his son-in-law, Randy Hutchinson, and his siblings, Lorraine Ray and Daniel Brown.
George is survived by his loving daughters, Sandra Hutchinson, Pennie Schinzel, Lisa (Chris) Brown, and his caring son, Dan (Angela) Brown. His legacy will continue to live on through his ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, siblings Joan Draper, Ronald Brown, Richard (Carol) Brown, Rita (Sonny) Stewart, Anita (Wayne) Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
George's life was a testament to his resilience, his love for family, and his dedication to service. His memory will forever be a beacon of strength and love for all who knew him.
