Obituary

Franklin "Bud" G. Richards, 76, of Winslow, Maine, passed away at home on May 1, 2025. Born on August 25,1948, in Milo, Maine, the son of the late Guy and Alma (Smith) Richards. He was one of twelve children. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Franklin was the heart of the family. For 38 years, he shared a strong and loving marriage with his wife Paula (Dyer) Richards. Together they created a home filled with warmth and cherished memories. Franklin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, completing basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and serving three tours in the Vietnam War. He later worked for Stanley Ames driving truck and was a backhoe operator for the Waterville Water District. Franklin found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life: watching westerns, fishing and going to various places around Maine. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He is survived by his daughter Lynn and husband William Klein. Stepchildren Kelly Klaiber and partner Alan Sargood, Ronda and husband Philip Connolly, Lee Drouin and wife Mary, Alan Richard and partner Linda Garceau. His treasured grandchildren Dillon, Devin and Lacey Haight, Kristin and husband Pat Fitzgerald, Parker, Nicholas and Zachary Connolly, Tanner and Daniel Drouin. His great granddaughter Maisie Fitzgerald. His sister Luvera Chase, Sister in-laws Lynne Richards, Carol Richards, Dottie Dyer and Constance Kurland. Susan and husband Roger Flye and Kevin Dyer and wife Jan. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Franklin is predeceased in death by his wife Paula (Dyer) Richards, His parents Guy and Alma (Smith) Richards. His siblings Ivory, Ernest, Junior, Madeline, Jenny, Althea, Clyde, Floyd, John and Harry. Brother in-laws Mike Dyer, Stephen Dyer. Sister in-laws Zoe Dyer and Jane Dyer. Graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Palmyra, Maine on June 21st, 2025, at 1:00pm.
